Why do I need a pre-operative assessment?
A The pre-operative assessment is a crucial step before any refractive surgery. It allows our surgeons to:
✔ Toassess your eligibility based on your visual correction and the health of your eyes.
✔ To determine the most suitable technique among LASIK, SMILE, PKR, or PresbyLASIK.
✔ To explain the procedure in detail, the benefits, and possible side effects.
This assessment is performed usingprecise exams (corneal topography, pachymetry, refraction measurement…) to ensure a tailored and safe process.
Is the consultation reimbursed?
The pre-operative assessment includes several exams and a specialized consultation with an ophthalmic surgeon.
✔ Medical part : Some procedures may be covered by Social Security and your insurance if a pathological condition is detected.
✔ Evaluation for refractive surgery : The pre-operative consultation for refractive surgery is generally considered a non-reimbursed service, as it is a comfort procedure and not a medical one.
💡 We recommend checking with your insurance to find out about possible coverage and available packages.
How does the first consultation work?
The pre-operative assessment takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour and includes several steps:
✔ A personalized interview with the surgeon to understand your expectations and assess your needs.
✔ A thorough eye examination :
- Measurement of your visual correction (myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, presbyopia).
- Corneal analysis (thickness, curvature) through corneal topography.
- Check of intraocular pressure and tear film quality.
✔ A discussion about possible options :
- If you are eligible, the surgeon will explain the technique best suited to your profile and answer all your questions.
- You will receive all information about the procedure, recovery, and expected results.
💡 You will leave with a complete assessment and a personalized recommendation to regain clear vision.
